Our Namesake

At the Lisa Ross Birth and Women's Center, we specialize in caring for women with low risk, normal pregnancies. We believe in educating you and your family about the normal changes of pregnancy and signs to watch for so that you can be an active and empowered participant in your own healthcare. We encourage family and friends to be a part of prenatal care, and we enjoy having them attend prenatal visits with you, if desired.

Our Certified Nurse-Midwives provide prenatal care, labor and delivery, and post-partum care. Our three birth options include birth center birth, waterbirth, and hospital birth.

Individual Prenatal Care

Your first prenatal visit will last about 1 hour. During this visit you will meet with the CNM to discuss your health and pregnancy history and to ask any questions that you may have regarding your prenatal care or pregnancy concerns. Future visits generally last about 30 minutes and will provide you plenty of time to get to know the midwives and to ask any questions that you may have, as well as benefiting from the teaching the midwives offer.

Throughout pregnancy, we educate and encourage you on how to maintain a healthy lifestyle.

Topics include:
• diet and exercise
• fetal growth and development
• avoidance of toxic substances
• normal fetal movement
• preparation for childbirth

In the course of your prenatal care, we continually monitor your condition for any complications that may arise. If needed, our consulting physicians may co-manage your prenatal care or you may be transferred to a Physician’s care should your pregnancy become high risk.
